About

Since graduate school, I have been researching ways to reduce the time necessary to parse the data from hyper-diverse groups without sacrificing species-level, research-grade data. I published my first paper on using artificial neural networks to ID spider species as a proof of principle back in 1999. Following that, as a post-doc, I received funding from NSF to further explore this idea. Currently, I am attempting to use AI to help identify bee species. A new publication on the genus Certatina is in preparation .
